My painting practice centres on desire, exploring emotional states through the body and intimate relationships. Gestures of touch, proximity, and embrace move between tenderness and control, connection and distance. Faces and bodies are cropped, blurred, or partially obscured, leaving intimacy unresolved and open to interpretation. Through layering, erasing, and reworking oil paint, I allow figures to emerge between clarity and dissolution. My work considers how emotional encounters unsettle the boundaries of the self and leave enduring, unresolved psychological traces. Painting thus becomes a way of preserving both the intimacy of an encounter and the uncertainty it contains.
