In my abstracted Appalachian landscape images, I work to translate or “map” panenhenic mystical experience. Panentheism is a term coined by Robert Charles Zaehner to describe the mystic sensation of unity with nature and natural spaces. This work is process-oriented and is meant to function as a collaboration with nature. I use found plant matter and waste from natural settings, stamp print with them, then return to a natural setting to complete an automatic, generalized drawing in plein air, engaging with the landscape in a panenhenic state.
